Inclusive Community

At Hockaday, you become part of an inclusive and welcoming community that will be with you for the rest of your life – both as students and as parents. We foster a community of support and friendship within the student body, faculty and staff, families, and alumnae.

Hockaday Parents' Association (HPA)

Hockaday's parents are actively engaged in the community. Inclusive of all parents, the Hockaday Parents' Association works to support the faculty, staff, and students. As volunteers, parents enhance their daughter's experiences at the School while working in tandem with the School to achieve its mission.

Throughout the year, we come together to strengthen our community, building school pride centered on our long-standing traditions. From the Color Run and Spirit Nights to the HPA Benefit and grade-level activities, parents have many opportunities to create bonds and form lasting relationships with one another.

Parents also enjoy the Hockaday Parent Education Series, which hosts a variety of speakers who discuss relevant topics to provide parents with information and tools to help their daughters better navigate their school community and  the world around them.

Class Representatives

Class Representatives are responsible for planning and overseeing many social, volunteer, and communication activities for the class parents and families.
Cultural Connections Committee

The Cultural Connections Committee aims to recognize and celebrate the diversity and commonality of the Hockaday community and to promote awareness and understanding of issues related to diversity in its many forms (such as, but not limited to, racial, ethnic, cultural, socio-economic, and religious) to foster an inclusive community.

The Committee meets monthly to plan a variety of events that highlight and celebrate the diversity of the Hockaday community. Some of the many events planned include the International Festival, Diwali Social, Oktoberfest Celebration, and a Lunar New Year Celebration.
Uniform Resale

The Uniform Resale Boutique is a project of the Hockaday Parents’ Association, and all proceeds benefit The Hockaday School. The boutique depends on donations of gently used uniforms. Twice a month, they open their on-campus doors to sell gently used Hockaday uniform items, from hair bows and saddle shoes to sweatshirts and white dresses for graduation.
Bookstore

Volunteering in the Bookstore is a fun way to serve the School, see campus life in action, and help our students, teachers, and parents. Most shifts are only once a month. Shift times are 8 -10:30 am, 10:30 am-1 pm, or 1-3 pm.
Benefit and Auction

Annually, the HPA hosts the Hockaday Benefit supporting the Ela Hockaday Fund for Faculty Excellence. There are many ways for parents in all divisions to come together and volunteer whether through Auction or Raffle Sales to Data Entry and Event Set-up.
Athletics Concessions Stand

Parents enjoy volunteering to sell food and Hockaday gear during athletics games. It is also a great opportunity to meet parents from different grades.
